Juvenile Detention

W. W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home

The W. W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home is a 60-bed facility that detains juveniles ordered through the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court systems serving the cities of Danville and Martinsville and the counties of Halifax, Henry, Mecklenburg, Patrick and Pittsylvania.

Although primarily a holding facility, the detention home has evolved into a program with many services. These services have been developed to provide our residents with well-defined boundaries within a structured framework. The foundation for the structure is our daily schedule.

The daily schedule is structured; however, it is also flexible to meet the needs of our residents. On a daily basis, the residents go to court, have interviews with attorneys, probation officers, social workers, etc.
