Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

CERT

In 2004, Danville Emergency Management, with the assistance of Danville Citizen Corp., began the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. This program has trained over 300 residents so far.

CERT is an eight-unit training program that prepares Danville residents and businesses to help themselves, their families, coworkers, and neighbors in the event of a disaster.

During an incident, public safety personnel may not be able to reach everyone right away. By getting trained in CERT, you will have the skills to help emergency management and first responders save lives and protect property.

CERT members also can volunteer with the Department's Education and Public Outreach program, which promotes emergency preparedness awareness at community events and to neighborhoods, civic groups, churches, schools, and businesses.

CERT Classes

Since 2004, the Department has conducted dozens of CERT classes throughout the city to the general public, churches, schools, and businesses. Danville CERT members have volunteered thousands of hours helping those in the Danville community and in the nation.
