The River District Rhythms at the Market concert series for 2013 closes on Saturday, Sept. 14, with “Bluegrass Night” featuring Grass Cats, a North Carolina band with chart-topping original songs.
Earlier this year, the band’s single “The Mountains My Baby and Me” hit No. 1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited national survey. The single also was No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today monthly airplay chart. The Cats has performed 15 years and produced eight CDs, four of which landed in the Top 10 on Bluegrass Unlimited’s national chart.
In addition to traditional bluegrass, the Cats also perform “covers” of songs from artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Duke Ellington and Johnny Cash.
The concert will be held at The Crossing at the Dan in the Community Market parking lot. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Children of age 12 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult.
The concert is presented by Danville Harvest Jubilee and is sponsored by Bud Light, the city of Danville, Copa, Danville Regional Medical Center, The Homeplace Vineyard, Lex 12, Pepsi Beverages Company, Texas Steakhouse & Saloon and URW Community Federal Credit Union.
