[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire on Ida Street


The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 138 Ida Street this evening. Engine 5 arrived on scene first at 7:54 pm and reported flames and smoke showing from the residence. Everyone was out of the house on our arrival. Crews made an interior attack on the fire which had reached the attic area. The fire was extinguished and the home received moderate damage. Six people were displaced by the fire. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire originated from a wood stove that had a disconnected flue pipe. The fire started in a wall above the wood stove and traveled into the attic area.

The DFD responded with 3 engines, 1 aerial ladder and 2 support vehicles. A total of 19 personnel were on the scene for 2 hours and 24 minutes.
