A local group that recruits, develops and retains budding entrepreneurs will invest $250,000 to help a third high-tech company come to the River District. This seed money from The Launch Place will go to a North Carolina-based company that has developed new swim safety technology.

The technology involves a wearable swim monitoring and drowning-detection system that aims to assist poolside parents, lifeguards, and anyone else who strives to be "better safe than sorry" when in water.

The company, SEAL Innovation, will establish operations in Danville’s River District, which will bring leadership, technology and product development jobs to the area by 2015. More about SEAL Innovation:

SEAL Innovation is the third high-tech company to receive money this year from The Launch Place. In January, The Launch Place invested $250,000 to bring KSI Data Sciences to the River District. In February, another $250,000 was was used to bring CirrusWorks to the River District.

The Launch Place was established with a $10 million grant from the Danville Regional Foundation.
