At 1516 hours the Danville Fire Department responed to Anglers Park where they found 2 people in 2 seperate rafts in distress. They had attempted to raft against the current but due to the current in the Dan River they started floating down the river. One of the rafters started calling for help and an off duty firefighter heard the people in distress. He along with other bystanders were able to get them close to the bank and keep them stationary until crews from Station 7,Safety, and the Techanical Rescue Team could safely get them out of the water.
