[ARCHIVED] House Fire at 245 Oakwood Circle

The Danville Fire Department was dispatched at 5:05 pm to a possible fire in the kitchen at 245 Oakwood Circle. E3 arrived and found light smoke coming out the front door. A quick walk around of the house revealed fire in the kitchen. The occupant advised everyone was out of the house with the exception of two family pets. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not spread out of the kitchen. However smoke damage did occur throughout the house. Crews were able to locate both cats inside and bring them out to the owner. Both cats appeared to be in very good condition.
The fire started due to unattended cooking. The occupant advised she heard popping from the other room and when she returned to the kitchen the cabinets were catching fire.
The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, and two support vehicles. A total of 18 fire personnel responded. The Danville Life Saving Crew and Danville Utilities also responded for assistance. All units were on scene for just under two hours.
The DFD reminds everyone of the importance of remaining in the kitchen and paying attention while cooking. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of residential fires in Danville and across the United States.
