The City of Danville will provide a live video stream of Saturday night’s Riverview Rotary Christmas Parade. Go to DanvilleVAGov on YouTube beginning at 7 p.m. to watch the event on your computer, tablet or smartphone.
The theme for this year’s parade is "Christmas Future." The grand marshals will be children of the Rotarians.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Broad Street, continue on Main Street toward Craghead Street, turn onto Craghead Street and ends at the Community Market.
About 120 floats are scheduled to appear in the parade, which also will feature marching units and bands. An award ceremony for parade participants will be held immediately afterward at the Community Market. Refreshments will be served.
The parade evening will be kicked off by an informal fun Jingle Bell/Ugly Sweater Fun, which will begin at 6:45 p.m.
The Police Department is encouraging motorists to utilize alternate routes to the downtown area during parade. Traffic will be blocked on Main Street from Broad Street to Craghead Street starting at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Craghead Street to Deboe Street will be blocked starting at 6:30 p.m. Free parking available at Newton’s Landing on Bridge Street.
