Danville, VA Fire Department Media Releases

[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire

Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on 12-23-14 at 6:14 am. When the first units arrived they found smoke visible from the rear of the house. The house was a duplex and was occupied at the time of the fire. All of the occupants had evacuated the house prior to the fire department arriving on the scene. The occupants were alerted by a smoke detector that had been installed by the fire department previously. A second alarm was called before the fire was brought under control. There were no injuries and there were five people displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the families.
The Fire Marshal's Office conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire. The investigation revealed that the fire was arson. The Fire Marshal’s Office asks if anyone has any information about the fire to call the Fire Marshal’s Office or the Danville Crime Stoppers.
The total time on scene for the fire department was approximately 2 ½ hours.
