The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 229 Central Street this morning at 11:53am. Crews arrived at 11:57am and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of a one story residential structure. An occupant of the structure narrowly escaped the fire but was not injured. The cause of the fire was investigated by the fire marshals' office and determined to be a stopped up flue pipe from a wood stove in the basement. One pet (cat) was found deceased after the fire in the basement.
