Beginning Tuesday, repairs will be made to sunken brickwork located in the intersection of Main Street with Memorial Drive and Craghead Street.
The Danville Public Works Department will close the center lanes on eastbound Memorial Drive and both northbound and southbound Main Street, but traffic movement through the intersection, as well as turns, will be allowed while the repairs are being made.
The repairs are expected to be completed on Wednesday.
Also on Tuesday and Wednesday, the left sound-bound lane from 246 Hairston St. to 266 Hairston St. will be restricted to allow for the installation of a manhole.
The Riverside Drive turning lane project continues this week as well. The contract crew will work in the median between Ingram Road and James Road. The inside travel lanes – both eastbound and westbound – will be closed.
The project includes installation of storm drains, the creation of additional turning lanes and the extension of existing turning lanes.
A temporary speed limit of 45 mph is posted during the project.
Motorists are urged to slow down when approaching these areas and be alert to altered traffic patterns or consider an alternate route.
