[ARCHIVED] Artists install their work on Danville Art Trail

Sharing A Story by artist Marie-Pierre Philippe-Lohezic

Installation of the Danville Art Trail took place on Friday, with the day ending with a reception for the artists who created the pieces.

The seven pieces that make up the trail will be on display for 18 months. The pieces, artists and locations are as follows:

• “Autumn’s Path” by Jordan Parah, Danville Public Library plaza
• “He Always Carried It With Him” by Charlie Brouwer, 500 Main St. (former Downtowner site)
• “Sharing A Story” by Marie-Pierre Philippe-Lohezic, Main Street Plaza
• “Ker-Plunk” by Adam Walls, Riverwalk trailhead at the Crossing at the Dan
• “Sunburst” by Hanna Jubran, Union Street Dam overlook
• “Ender’s Enigma” by Davis Whitfield, Danville Science Center island
• “Mixed Emotions” by Davis Whitfield, Museum of Fine Arts and History

An online brochure at www.playdanville.va.com will provide a map of the trail, locations of the art pieces, and information about the pieces and the artists.

To celebrate the new 2.5-mile trail, a guided walking tour will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The tour is free and open to the public. Registration is required, however. Call (434) 799-5215.

The Danville Art Trail is funded in partly by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, along with Danville Regional Foundation, Danville Regional Medical Center and City of Danville
