The Danville Fire Department responded to a brush fire at 201 Stinson Dr near the welcome center. Two engines a brush truck and two command units responded. The fire was located on the right of way for a major electrical transmission line and access was very limited. Crews were able to contain the fire with the brush truck an hand tools. The Virginia Department of Forestry was called in with 4 personnel and a bulldozer to assist in final extinguishment. .Crews were on the scene for approximately 2 hours and the fire consumed about two and a half acres. Damage was minimal due to the fact that only grass and brush were consumed.
