Danville Parks and Recreation is looking for groups to participate in the 2016 Community Holiday Light Show. This year’s event will be held Dec. 12 -27 in Ballou Park. Groups can range from school or organizational specific to family and friends.
Last year, more than 1,000 cars, around 3,500 people and raised more than $4,000 visited Ballou Park during the light show.
Event organizers are currently accepting applications for displays as well as volunteers to work the gate and direct traffic. Volunteer groups will be given a portion of the gate to support their organization while builders can enter displays for the chance to win a monetary donation to the charity of their choice.
Displays can be store bought or homemade or a mixture of both. There are only 40 display spots, however, so now is the time to register. There is no cost for entering in a display. Parks and Recreation will supply power hook up but groups are responsible for supplying extension cords to run their light displays.
To register to build or volunteer, contact Danville Welcome Center at 434-793-4636.
