“UNCLE JAKE’S RETURN” STAGE PLAY

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3:30 p.m. Sunday
Where: Historic North Theatre, 629 North Main St, Danville, VA

He's back! Twenty years ago, Uncle Jake hit the lottery, and left Danville without letting the family know. Needless to say, they are anxious for his return. They want to know why he's coming back now, and "where's the money?" If you feel like laughing out loud, and if you want to know where the money is, then you need to come on out to the North Theatre, and be a fly on the wall. Whitworks Productions presents this stage play, which is written and produced by Joan Daniel Whitlock. Tickets are general admission. Cost is $20 at the door. For more information, call (434) 709-7505.

CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

When: 10 A.M. to 4 p.m. Saturday
Where: Carrington Pavilion, 667 Craghead St., Danville, VA

From amusement rides to magic shows, crafts to the zip line, and kids’ karaoke to rock climbing, there is something to put a smile on every child’s face. In addition, this year’s event will feature the state Civil War History Mobile, a 53-foot expandable trailer that houses a museum quality exhibition. The event is produced by Danville Parks and Recreation. Admission, rides and activities are free. Food concessions will be available for purchase. For more information, go to www.playdanvilleva.com or call 793-4636.
