Danville, VA Police Department Media Releases

[ARCHIVED] 01-15-11 CHILD STRUCK BY VEHICLE

Danville Police respond to a child who was injured while crossing the highway shortly before noon.


At approximately 11:38 am today an 11-year-old boy and his mother were on foot crossing Piney Forest Road near the intersection of Woodside Drive. The boy was crossing the southbound side of the road going east when he ran into the passenger side of a 1995 Buick 4 door as it was traveling down the road. The Buick was being operated by a 73-year-old Danville man. Damage to the car is estimated at $1,000. The boy sustained head injuries as a result and was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department and then flown to Duke University Medical Center for further treatment. His condition was described as severe but stable by medical personnel. At this time no charges will be filed as a result.
