The next phase of streetscape improvements in the River District will begin on Monday, July 29. This phase will improve the 600 block of Main Street between North Ridge Street and Floyd Street.
This project will consist of the following activity:
Improvements will use historically appropriate materials and styles and will be the same as those used in previous River District streetscape projects.
Construction is expected to take approximately four months. Disruption to traffic flow on Main Street is anticipated to be minimal. Floyd Street between Patton Street and Main Street will be closed briefly to install the storm drain system. Access to existing businesses will be maintained at all times.
The cost of construction will be $578,824. Quality Construction is the contractor.
Questions or concerns may be directed to the City of Danville Public Works Engineering Office at (434) 799-5019.
This project will be the sixth streetscape phase. The first streetscape phase was completed in December 2013. In the first phase, improvements were made in the 300, 400 and 500 blocks of Main Street and the block of North Union Street between Main and Spring streets.
Since then, streetscape projects have led to the construction of the Main Street Plaza and improvements along Craghead Street and the 200 block of North Union Street. The North Union Street project was completed last month.
