At approximately 4:42 pm today the Danville Emergency Services Dispatch Center received a 911 call of unresponsive children in a parked car in front of the Ross store located on Holt Garrison Parkway. Danville Police responded, but the car had already left. Utilizing vehicle registration information provided by citizens at the scene, responding officers went to a residence on Kemper Road and made contact with the driver and occupants of the car. There they discovered a 3-year-old girl, 1-year-old boy, and 78-year-old woman all suffering from heat exposure. EMS was immediately called, and all three were transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment. The woman was admitted and is listed in critical condition. The children were transported to Roanoke Children's Center for further treatment and are also listed in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
