At approximately 2:18AM Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Henry Road and Riverside Drive for a report of a vehicle crash.
The investigation revealed a 2004 Buick LaSabre was traveling northbound on Henry Road crossing over Riverside Drive headed onto Locust Lane. A 1998 Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on Riverside Drive. The Jeep failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Henry Road and pulled out striking the driver side of the Buick. The Jeep fled the scene. The driver of the Buick was transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained due to the crash. The Jeep was located and the driver of the Jeep did not require medical treatment. The Buick sustained approximately $5,000 in damages and the Jeep sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.
Warrants were obtained for the driver of the Jeep, Kevin Lee Saunders, age 22 of Pittsylvania County, Virginia for Felony Hit and Run, Driving while intoxicated, and Refusal of test. Kevin is being held under a $10,000.00 secured bond in the Danville City Jail.
