[ARCHIVED] 03-26-12 Vehicle Runs Into Business - Injures People Inside

Two Danville women were injured; one in serious condition, after being struck by a vehicle that ran into a business shortly before noon.

At approximately 11:41 am today Danville Police and emergency services personnel responded to McKinley Chiropractic located at 135 Collins Drive for a report of a vehicle that ran into the business. The investigation revealed that a 2005 Pontiac Van ran through the front portion of the building and struck two women inside. One of the women, a 31-year-old employee of the practice, was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The second woman, a 51-year-old patient of the practice, was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center and subsequently flown to Duke University Medical center with serious injuries.

The occupants of the van were not injured. The driver, Verna Mae Lomax, age 77 of Danville was charged with reckless driving as a result of the crash.
