  5. Fee: 30 Days--$100. Each additional 30-day extension--$50

  6. Checks are to be made payable to City of Danville

  7. Checks should be mailed to: 600 Lynn Street, Danville, VA 24541. Permit will be issued after payment is received.

  8. All burning will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (Air Division) and in accordance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code.

  9. In Case of Emergency--Two 24-Hour Contacts

  10. NO MATERIAL MAY BE HAULED FROM ANOTHER SITE AND BURNED.
    THE APPROVED PERMIT MUST BE KEPT ON THE BURN SITE.

  11. All burning is to be conducted in accordance with all applicable state and local regulations/ordinances. Any violation of such ordinances may be sufficient to cause its revocation and all burning discontinued. Complaints of smoke or ash nuisance may result in immediate revocation of this permit. The individual, business or contractor to whom this permit is issued is responsible for any damage and/or cleanup.

  12. 1. The burning shall be at least 500 feet from any occupied building, excluding buildings located on the same property.
    2. The material to be burned shall consist of brush, clean stumps and similar land-clearing debris and shall not include demolition material, garbage or other waste disposal. The fire official must approve the number and size of debris piles (40' x 40' maximum) and all piles shall be seasoned for a minimum of fifteen (15) days before burning. The highest possible level of heat is to be maintained to minimize particulate being emitted into the atmosphere.
    3. Burning will only be allowed when the relative humidity is 60% or less and the prevailing winds are away from any highway, neighborhood or built-up area.
    4. The burning shall be attended at all times. Attendant must be capable of operating land-clearing equipment that is kept on-site during the burning.
    5. Prior notification to those in the general vicinity must be made to mitigate concerns. The fire official may assign additional requirements.
    6. On the day the burning is to begin, the Fire Marshal must be notified BEFORE the fire is ignited.
