How do I get Utility services activated?
To determine if a deposit is required, please call our Customer Service Office at 799-5155.

Bill Information

How often will I receive a bill?
Customers within City limits receive a bill once a month in conjunction with meter readings.  Rural customers receive a bill bi-monthly in conjunction with meter readings.

When is my bill due?
Your bill is due 10 days from the bill date.

When is an account considered past due?
The account is considered past due 3 days after the due date, when a penalty is affixed.

What forms of payment are accepted for my Utility services?
We accept cash, checks, money orders, bank drafts and the Discover credit card.

Is there assistance available for low income customers?

Low income residents may be eligible for assistance in paying their heating bills.  The City of Danville Social Services Division (799-6543) and the Southside Community Action Agency (793-3461) offer assistance to low income residents of Danville.  Also, The Danville Pittsylvania County United Way runs the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program for Danville Residents.  The Pittsylvania County Social Services Division (432-7281) and the Pittsylvania County Community Action Agency (432-8250) offer assistance to residents of Pittsylvania County.

Visit our Customer Service Office and sign a termination order at 311 Memorial Drive.

How can I transfer service to a different location?
Visit our Customer Service Office and sign a termination order for the current location and sign a contract for the new location at 311 Memorial Drive.

Who do I call if I have a problem with my electricity, water or gas?
For power outages call 434-773-8300

 What if I have medical equipment and there is an outage?
While we try to plan and prepare for unforeseen power outages, it is impossible to predict when they will occur or the time it will take to restore power once an outage has occurred. 

If you rely on electricity to operate medical equipment, we recommend that you develop an emergency backup plan ahead of time. If oxygen is needed, keep a few hours supply of oxygen and, in case of an extended time without power, have a location where you can go that has enough electricity to power your equipment until the power is restored. It is the customer’s responsibility to contact their oxygen supplier and insure that they have sufficient supplies to last through an emergency.

For those that have water wells and rely on electricity to operate the pump that supplies water, we recommend you keep a supply of bottled water on hand.
