The Genealogy Department is located on the second floor beside the Children’s Department. The department provides a comfortable and quiet space for researching family history.
The Virginia-North Carolina Genealogical Society has its offices here and provides volunteers
to assist patrons with genealogical research. The Society also holds its monthly meeting in the library on the first Tuesday of each month.
The library has an extensive collection of genealogical materials including:
- past City Directories
- local burial and marriage records
- family histories
- histories of Danville and other Virginia and North Carolina cities and counties
- Civil War military records
- a variety of Genealogical journals and reference books
- and many other Genealogical resources
