Assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys
Responsibilities
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for the City of Danville prosecutes all felony cases in the Danville Circuit Court, the Danville General District Court, and the Danville Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. The Office also prosecutes misdemeanor offenses in all three courts.
In addition to these duties, the Office is responsible for responding to motions filed in any criminal case as well as providing legal advice, when called upon, to local law enforcement in the investigation of criminal offenses.
In addition to the Commonwealth's Attorney, Michael J. Newman, there are several Assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys in the Danville Office.
Robert L. Adams Jr.
Robert L. Adams Jr. is a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and has served in the office since 1992.
Robert graduated from Campbell College in 1976 with a B.S. in government. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University Law School in 1982.
He serves as the supervising assistant over all prosecutions in the Circuit Court. Robert is primarily assigned to prosecuting felony cases in the Circuit Court.

Petra B. Haskins
Petra B. Haskins has served as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney since 2010.
Petra graduated from George Mason University in 1992 with a B.S. in Administration of Justice. She received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 1996.
Petra is primarily assigned to prosecuting felony cases in the Circuit Court.

M. Coleman Adams
M. Coleman Adams has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2008.
Coleman graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 2004 with a B.A. in political science and international relations. He received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 2008.
Coleman serves as the supervising assistant over the General District Court. He prosecutes cases in the General District Court, as well as the Circuit Court. And also writes appellate briefs as needed.

Joseph M. Barrier
Joseph Barrier has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2012.
Joseph graduated from Bob Jones University in 2005. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2011.
Joseph prosecutes cases in all three courts and writes appellate briefs.

Michael J. Henzey
Michael J. Henzey has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2012.
Michael graduated from George Mason University in 2006 with a B.A. in History. He received his J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 2009. Additionally, Michael received an L.L.M. from the University at Buffalo Law School, State University of New York, in Criminal Law in 2010.
Michael prosecutes cases in primarily the General District Court and the Circuit Court. He also is the supervising assistant over appellate briefs.

Emily S. Hunt
Emily Hunt has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2012.
Emily graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science and Religion / Philosophy. She received her J.D. from The College of William and Mary School of Law in 2011.
Emily prosecutes cases in all three courts and writes appellate briefs.

Nicole Mazzarella
Nicole Mazzarella has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2012.
Nicole graduated from Liberty University in 2009 with a B.S. in Government. She received her J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law in 2012.
Nicole prosecutes cases in all three courts and writes appellate briefs.

Jared L Moon
Jared L Moon has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2011.
Jared graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003 with a B.S. in Political Science. He received his J.D. from the University of Richmond in 2006.
Jared is the supervising assistant over the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and he prosecutes cases in all three courts.

Eric K. Washburn
Eric K. Washburn has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney since 2011.
Eric began college at Radford Univerisity and finished his undergraduate work at James Madison University in 2001 with a B.B.A. in finance. He received his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2010.
Eric prosecutes cases in all three courts and writes appellate briefs.
