Danville’s Riverwalk is a favorite outdoor destination for active local citizens and visitors to the area.  Enjoy nature, history and scenic riverfront vistas along the 8.5 mile greenway.  

The paved path is designed for shared non-motorized use to include pedestrians and bicyclists.  Connections may be made to City parks, the Carrington Pavilion, the Science Center, the Airport, historic Downtown Danville and, most recently, Riverside Dr. restaurants and hotels. The Riverwalk is truly one successful path to the vision adopted by Danville Parks, Recreation and Tourism: Danville...Happy and Healthy!

Danville is home to the sweetest single track in the region. Located in Anglers Park, over 25 miles of  mountain bike trails offer a variety of challenges. Trails vary from beginner to expert providing multiple experiences for each level.

Hikers and trail runners are also invited to enjoy the scenic creeks and wooded hillsides of the Anglers Ridge network. The system can be accessed from Anglers Park at 350 Northside Drive, Danville VA 24540. Map it

Ballou Park Nature Trail is .75 miles, making it perfect for an invigorating jaunt into the woods.  The Interpretative brochure highlights the flora and fauna found along this forested hillside path. Ballou Park is also the home of a 9 hole and 18 hole Disc Golf course.The trail is located below the tennis courts in beautiful Ballou Park, 760 W. Main St., Danville, VA 24541. Map it

Traversing the hilly terrain of the park are four natural surface trails, each about a half mile in length, which may be hiked separately or linked together.Turkey Trot, Doe Run, Hidden Hollow, and Grassy Knoll trails circle through hardwood forests dominated by picturesque beech trees and crisscrossed by fern bordered streams.
