Recyclable Products
Newsprint, steel, aluminum cans, types 1 and 2 plastic, cardboard, mixed paper, and glass are collected at the sites listed below:
Since 1992, the City of Danville has met the Virginia State mandated 25% recycling rate each year. In 2011, the City's recycling rate was 45%.
CURBSIDE RECYCLING SERVICE
Beginning January 1, 2012, City residents may sign up for curbside recycling service. The first collection day will be Thursday, January 5th and continue each Thursday thereafter.
Public Works will provide the first recycling container for new subscribers. Additional containers may be purchased at local stores. Recyclable materials include: Glass, plastic, mixed paper, aluminum, tin, steel, cardboard, etc.
The annual cost is $195 for January - December. Applications made after January 1st will be pro-rated to the end of December at a cost of $3.75 per week. (If paying with cash, please bring exact change)

E-Recycling Center
A collection site is located at the Public Works Complex Warehouse Building (998 South Boston Road) for miscellaneous electronics and other items such as computers, televisions, etc.
