The
Stormwater Quality Management and Discharge Control Ordinance (Chapter 9, Article V) was established in the 2000s as mandated by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to help the City of Danville help prevent pollution in our waters. It prohibits residents, businesses and contractors from discharging illegal and harmful substances into our public drainage system. In addition, any land disturbing activity over one acre must comply with the standards outlined with DCR’s
Virginia Stormwater Management Handbook.
Urban Stormwater Quality Management and Discharge Control Ordinance (Chapter 9, Article V, Division 7) prohibits non-stormwater discharges to the storm drain system.
The
Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance (Chapter 13) provides for the effective control of soil erosion, sediment deposition, and nonagricultural runoff to prevent the unreasonable degradation of properties, stream channels, waters, and other natural resources.
